*Facepalm*

So yeah, not like anyone reads this (I think); but it seriously sucks to have to type with one hand because your other hand won't respond to commands from your brain or if it does then it hurts like hell. Needless to say I'm gonna have to "suck it up, cupcake" and go to the doctor.
I'm hedging my bets that the probable diagnosis is carpal tunnel. -_- (Way to frikkin' go, genetics.)
So my apologies to my readers that updates will be slow in coming for a while.

I'm Proud to Announce...

The first chapter of Snowboards & Tuxes was posted today!

I've already received several reviews. ^_^ Thank you all so much.

I've begun working on character profiles to get them all out of my head. Don't get me wrong, I love my characters; but when you've got seven of them all fighting for dominance in your creative output it can get...hairy. Anyhow, These will be a nice little addition to the series for anyone who wants to get to know their favorite character a little bit better.

Onward...into the great unknown

Well, not really. But it sounds good!

Now that I'm earnestly working on the second story in the Preston and Archer Unlimited Corporations series, I'm also BARELY beginning to explore the vast sea of publicity options. The most I have done to generate hype about Moonlight & Stained Glass up to this point is create this blog, my facebook pages, and my Goodreads pages. I haven't created contests or anything of the like in order to get my story "out there."

Reason number one, it's not ready. I'm going to proofread and edit before I finally publish it.
Reason number two, I'M not ready. This is the FIRST novel-length work I have ever finished. This is new territory for me (so maybe the title of this blog post fits after all).

I also have discovered I have a penchant for odd methods of research...right down to calling a restaurant to ask if I can use it as a setting in this new piece. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming (i.e. writing).

Moonlight & Stained Glass

is officially COMPLETE!
Three long months of thought processes, writing in between dealing with real life, and frustrations with scenes not coming out right the first time and being rewritten repeatedly has culminated in my first-ever complete novel-length story.

If you read my blog post last night (although I doubt I have an audience to this blog), you will know that this is not THE end though. No. My little plot bunny underwent meiosis and split into four more plots. These four plots do not feature the main characters you have come to know and love, but have their own couples with their own stories to tell.

I will now return to working on the blurb I started last night, despite my desire to go on strike against the left (or is it right) half of my brain. Goodnight.

Congratulations...

...to all you people who don't want Moonlight & Stained Glass to end. My brain officially decided that it will be the first in a series of 5 books. However, each book will have its own main characters.

I'd like to introduce you to the next two characters you'll be getting to know.

Corbin Preston is a mildly spoiled university freshman. His father is the CEO of the England branch of Preston and Archer Corporations Unlimited. A short, bookish type; he has enough sass to stand up for himself, but hasn't come out to his family about being gay.

Ewan Taggart boasts an ingrained dislike for the English, as his ancestors were ousted from their homeland for refusing to join the Black Watch and submit to English rule. His parents had moved back to Scotland when they were married, and he was born in Kildary a year later. Ewan emigrated to the United States when he graduated high school.

*Happy Dance*

Hip-hip-hooray! Someone finally added Moonlight & Stained Glass on Goodreads!!!

>.< I'm so frickin' excited right now! One more chapter to go (possibly two), and the story will officially come to a close.

Phew...

I barely published Chapter 13 of Moonlight & Stained Glass on New Year's Eve. January 3rd of the new year sees the posting of Chapter 14. With Chapter 15 already started, I do believe I'll pre-empt my goal of publishing this by March 1st if all else goes according to plan.

Some things I would like to find to enhance the story:

  • A male baritone singer
  • Someone who can bring to life the stained glass window from the church (digital art is fine)
  • Men who fit Dare and Cole's physical descriptions

The Last Leg

I'm very familiar with writer's block. What I'm not familiar with is that sudden rush of inspiration that hits like a damn Mack truck and floods your brain to the point of short-circuiting it.
I'm almost done with Moonlight & Stained Glass. When I started Chapter 13, I got one of those inspiration-rushes. Now, I had a beginning and an ending in mind when I started this. I also had some of the events that occur in the body of the story in mind. I did not plan how I was going to write these things, I just figured I'd cross that bridge when I got to it.
When the scenes started playing in my mind one after another I was incapable of writing for about half a day because I had to sort through the events and put the images into detailed words. The rush is still going and I'm nearly done with Chapter 14 after just having posted Chapter 13 yesterday.
Inspiration thy name is obsession.

Writing is the Easy Part

Holy hell...

Howcome nobody ever tells aspiring authors that writing the book is actually the EASY part?!

Okay, okay. So it's not a piece of cake, but it sure as hell is easier than everything that comes afterwards (if you want to actually publish it). Proofreading, editing, formatting, marketing.... BAH! *throws hands up in the air and walks away from computer to do dishes*

*returns with wrinkly fingertips*
I've spent more time linking profiles, formatting, and jumping through hoops and m!@(%&$(*!-ing redtape these past 2-3 days than I have actually WRITING.

In hindsight... Prepare this crap BEFORE you start writing your next awe-inspiring *scoff* work.
